About Sarasota-Manatee Counties

Our mission: We unite women to learn, grow, and inspire positive change throughout their lives.

Founded at Monmouth College in 1870, Kappa Kappa Gamma is one of the oldest women’s Greek-letter organizations. Six trailblazing women decided to express their belief in women’s potential and created a journey that would impact so many women after them on campuses across North America.

Today, Kappa has more than 135 chapters in the United States and Canada and has initiated more than 342,000 members.

About Sarasota-Manatee Counties

The Sarasota Alumnae Association was launched by Lucille "Lucie" Jones Grey Halifax and Marge Nufer, and the Fraternity Council granted its charter on May 10, 1962. Our detailed history can be found under the More tab. As the number of Kappas in the area continued to increase, the organization became the Sarasota-Manatee Counties KKG Alumnae Association. ****************************************************************** Today, the full group meets monthly for luncheons and programs, and three local lunch bunch groups meet informally monthly at restaurants (Venice, Sarasota, University Corridor). Throughout the season, several cultural outings are planned, a book club meets six times, and Decades Groups and Special Interest Groups arrange various activities.
